Emily Albrecht
Emily’s room is a torrent of balled-up nerd shirts and pants, the Supernatural and Sherlock posters on the wall being the only significant difference from the room’s layout in second grade. The window is always open when it’s cold, the screen slightly torn from the curious claws of one of her cats. Food wrappers lurk under the nightstand and bed along with a hidden, full box of stuffed animals as endless untouched necklaces strew themselves over the two white tabletops near her bed. Her window’s “curtain” is an old blanket attached to two hangers, one on each end, hooked precariously over the rail to which the curtain would attach. Gabby May So there’s this girl. She’s got beautiful long brown hair with caramel highlights. She has big hazel eyes that are decorated with black eyeliner, light pink eyeshadow, and black mascara. You'll never see her dressed up all fancy, she'll always be in her most comfy clothes wherever she goes. She walks around like she knows where she's going and what her future is and she talks as if she's going to take on the world and save people from everything evil. Hope Mueller I stared down at the Math problem I was supposed to solve. x2+2x+4 and I’m supposed to factor it, I thought intensely. All right. First I take the x2, a.k.a. 1, times the 4 and then…. But then I stopped. What was I supposed to do next? I had to think quickly. My dad could be home at any moments, and, like always, Mom would make him check over my work when I’m sure I’ve all ready got it! That should be fun, I thought bitterly. I appreciate my mom being concerned for my grades and such, but I don’t need help. I can do this by myself and I’m know what I’m doing. As I continued trying to solve the problem, my mind suddenly wondered over to the last Gravity Falls episode. I chuckled as I remembered the reference to Jumanji that they made. Maybe I could use that for another one of my stories! I thought inspired. But now wasn’t the time! I had to get back to work! My name is Hope Mueller, and I am a stubborn math whiz. Atishay Oberoi The tennis team super fans were sitting at the tennis courts watching the Eagles’ #1 doubles team take on Metamora’s #1 doubles team at Sectionals 2014. It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon, just how the Eagles liked it. Their one and only goal was winning this match to go to state. The Eagles’ doubles team rallied on to an amazing finish while making it to state! The celebratory dinner was of course at Buffalo Wild Wings, the Eagles’ #1 doubles team favorite place to eat after an amazing comeback win. |
Hannah Bond
Alexa looked up to see another unfamiliar face walk into the classroom, which wasn’t uncommon at Dunlap since there were so many students. Well the stranger didn’t exactly walk in, there was a certain sway and bounce in her step. Some might call it a swagger, but the connotation of the word didn’t seem to fit here. She was average in most ways physically. Asian. Medium height, a little taller than 5 feet. Long dark locks pulled into a messy side braid. Not too skinny but not overweight either. Dark chocolate brown eyes framed by a stylish pair of metallic glass, with a some brand name scribbled on the side of it. It didn’t seem to match the worn, muddy combat boots she wore but there was a certain amount of confidence in the way she held herself, like she knew who she was but wasn’t ignorant of other people’s opinions. Dropping her books onto the desk next to Alexa’s, she plopped into the seat and pulled out her pen. Alexa could see the bitten nails on her small hands. The girl turned toward Alexa when she noticed she was looking at her, blushing slightly she introduced herself. “Hi, my name is Hannah. I haven’t seen you before, but then again, I don’t know most people’s names.” “My name is Alexa.” Alexa shortly responded. Hannah’s open hand shot out toward Alexa as she grinned. “It’s nice to meet you, Alexa.” Emma MacMillan Light crept through a small rectangle under the blinds, illuminating the face of a sleeping girl. She shuffled around, and then her eyes, covered in blurry dark smudges from yesterday's makeup, opened. She sat up right away, knocking a sketchbook filled with late-night scribblings off of her arm. She reached for her glasses groggily, than put them on her face where they sat crookedly, as if they themselves were still just waking up. With a sigh of effort, she heaved herself out of bed and pulled back her hair, a brunette chaos of tangles and knots, into a half-assed, sideways ponytail. Finally, she was ready for her big Saturday in. As she got up, an innocent light caught the corner of her eye. Her cracked, banged-up iPhone buzzed, a notification about some video on YouTube. She grabbed the phone and sat back on her covers to watch the video. Soon enough, she was replaced by a mountain of blankets, the quiet noise of videos permeating through. Her half-open eyes stared at the screen. Well, Saturday could wait another hour... or three. This introduction basically is revealing how I wake up and how I fall asleep. It shows the kind of attitude I have on a lazy Saturday morning, which I believe is more or less shared with other people my age. I also would hope that this paragraph would communicate various desires of mine: for one, I love to draw and am always seeking to improve in that aspect. I normally also try to make plans for my weekend, usually not actual plans, but things to do. However, once I get distracted by my phone or some other source of technology I am easily distracted and then all I want to do is be lazy, which is usually my desire these days. |
